Minimally invasive treatment
Minimally Invasive Treatments for Teeth or Sinuses
Minimally invasive extractions on standing horses, jaw fracture fixation, sinusitis treatment, EOTRH, trepanation, ...
At Equide, we have all the necessary equipment to perform interventions as minimally invasive as possible. For extractions, we prioritize oral extraction (only through the mouth) to reduce stress for your horse. If we must access an internal structure (tooth root, sinus, etc.) externally, we make the smallest hole possible. This promotes quicker recovery for your horse!
We perform:
- Oral extractions (through the mouth)
- Minimally invasive extractions via buccotomy (small hole in the cheek for direct access to the tooth)
- Extractions by repulsion (primarily through an existing fistula)
- Screw extractions via buccotomy (small hole in the cheek for direct access, with a screw for removal without breaking)
- Jaw fracture fixation for horses
- Sinusitis treatment via nasal approach
- Sinusitis treatment via trepanation (a small hole in the sinus wall)

Benefits
At Equide, we prioritize your horse’s well-being and light, easy postoperative care. That’s why we prefer to work through natural pathways (mouth, nose). If external access is required, we ensure any scar is as small as possible.
